MailShield Guardian — Terms of Service
By installing or using MailShield Guardian you agree to these terms.
The app
MailShield Guardian analyzes suspicious mail, texts, emails, and phone numbers using AI and a community scam database. Verdicts are advisory only. They help you spot likely scams, but no AI is perfect — use your own judgment, and never share sensitive information based solely on our verdict.
Voicemail Scanner
The Voicemail Scanner works from a voicemail transcript you paste, or a screenshot or photo of one that you upload. MailShield Guardian does not record audio or access your device microphone.
Connected email accounts
If you choose to connect an email account via the Auto-Protect feature (Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo, iCloud and other IMAP providers), you let MailShield Guardian read incoming messages in that account to detect fraud, and flag the messages it rates as threats. It deletes messages only if you turn on Auto-Delete. A message deleted from a Yahoo, iCloud or other IMAP account may be removed permanently and may not be recoverable; an Outlook message is moved to Deleted Items; a Gmail message in an account connected with Google sign-in is moved to Trash. Because scan results can be wrong, Auto-Delete may remove a legitimate message. Connect only accounts you are authorized to access. What MailShield stores from your email, who processes it, and for how long are described in the Privacy Policy.
In the current versions of MailShield, Gmail connects with Google sign-in. In a coming update, Gmail will instead connect over IMAP with a Google app password you create, and a Gmail account connected with Google sign-in will be disconnected so that you can reconnect it that way. After that update, a Gmail message deleted by Auto-Delete is removed from your Inbox over IMAP, and what Gmail then does with it depends on your Gmail IMAP settings.
You may stop this access at any time by disconnecting the account in the app and, for an app password, deleting it at your mail provider; for Outlook, or for Gmail connected with Google sign-in, you may also revoke access in your Microsoft or Google account security settings. Disconnecting disables automatic email scanning but does not affect other app features.
What you can do
- Use MailShield for personal, non-commercial purposes
- Submit suspected scams to help the community
- Cancel your subscription via App Store or Play Store
What you may not do
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code
- Submit fraudulent reports to poison the community database
- Use the app to harass or report content from people you simply disagree with
- Scrape or republish the scam fingerprint database
The fingerprint engine collective
MailShield's verdicts are powered by a proprietary scam fingerprint database built from users' submissions. When a scan is rated high-risk or suspicious, a fingerprint — the links, phone numbers and sender names found in it, saved unencrypted — joins this shared collective, which other signed-in MailShield users' apps can read.
You grant Glippin Toys, LLC a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and incorporate that fingerprint into the shared collective and any AI models trained on it. You retain ownership of your original scan — what we license is only the fingerprint derived from it.
If you delete your account, your scan history is removed, but past fingerprints in the collective remain, including the links, phone numbers and sender names saved with them.
Subscriptions
Pro and Family subscriptions include a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your selected plan is billed automatically at the price shown at signup. Subscriptions auto-renew through the App Store or Play Store unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
